ACCOMMODATION IN ISTANBUL
Istanbul city ıs divided by the Bosphorus ınto Europe and Asia. The Golden Horn divides the old and new city. Most of the sights are located wıthın the old city  -Sultanahmet district - and the new area of the city is Beyoglu, where the nightlife and shopping facalities are. 

Old City: Most of the visitors prefer to stay in the old part of the city to be close to the sights, history and tourist activities. But ın the evening ıt ıs much quıeter compared to downtown. Most of the hotels are 'S' class catagory, which mean they are old Ottoman mansions converted into hotels.They have been restored faithfully and opened as hotels with traditional Turkish hospitality. There aren't many 5 star hotels in this part of the city.

Down Town: You are not that far from the sights, just a short trip across the Galata Bridge.  In good weather, it's a 30- minute walk to the Old City, passing the world's oldest Metro Tube, built in the 18th century. Alternatively, a taxi will cost $US5 to the Old City.

Asia Minor: Nice to visit but not ideal to stay. Asia Minor is mainly a residential area with few accommodation options.

Accommodation in Other Cities:
With the exception of the big cities, you won't have much choice. Most of the hotels serve dinner, included the price. 

CATAGORIES 
In Turkey, hotels are catagorised
from 1 up to 5 star. The old Ottoman Mansions, restored and converted into hotels, are catagorised as 'S' Class. Pensions, guest houses, hostels, aparthotels and holiday villages are other catagories.
